Duty Manager - Northland

Northland Shopping Centre is currently seeking a Duty Manager to work on a full time roster to manage emergency situations, the general up-keep of the centre, retailer and customer liaison and overall customer service, in order to maximise centre presentation and guarantee a high level of customer satisfaction at all times.  There is flexibility for your roster to run Thursday to Sunday, or Thursday to Monday, depending on your preference.


Northland Shopping Centre is a major regional shopping centre located approximately 9km north of Melbourne's CBD. Anchored by Myer, Kmart, Target, Coles, Woolworths, Toys "R" Us as well as Rebel Sport, JB Hi-Fi, Hoyts Cinemas, and more than 250 retailers. The centre's premium retail mix including Mecca Maxima which caters to a growing family and youth demographic is complimented by a popular outdoor entertainment and dining precinct. The precinct includes six restaurants, a Goodlife Health Club, and an architecturally-designed canopy and state-of-the-art ambient lighting.


This position assumes a hands on approach, which on weekdays is required to maintain the services (predominantly mechanical, plumbing and electrical), building fittings, floors and walls of the shopping centre, whilst in turn on weekends will assume overall management of the shopping centre in the absence of other centre management team members.


What does success look like?

  • Expert ability to converse with retailers and customer alike to manage complaints, enquiries and concerns
  • Proficient management of emergency situations
  • The ability to apply good judgement, think outside the box and arrive at practical solutions
  • Effective administration of risk and compliance requirements including reporting and documentation of incidents


A trade background is not essential for this role; you will however demonstrate the maturity and leadership to manage a range of competing priorities, put out 'spot fires', and effectively negotiate and influence to resolve issues and conflict.
